Lead Algorithm Engineer
Job Description SummaryAs a Lead Algorithm Engineer within GE Healthcare’s Bone & Metabolic Health (BMH) division, you will drive innovation in acquisition, calibration, and analysis algorithms for advanced imaging systems. This role combines expertise in AI-driven algorithm development with senior-level software engineering responsibilities, ensuring robust, scalable, and clinically impactful solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including clinical researchers, data scientists, and system engineers to deliver next-generation diagnostic capabilities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Algorithm Development & AI Integration

Design, implement, and optimize algorithms for image acquisition, calibration, reconstruction, and quantitative analysis in bone and metabolic health applicationsDevelop calibration algorithms to ensure accurate and consistent measurements across imaging devices and patient populationsLeverage machine learning and deep learning techniques to improve image quality, reduce noise, and enhance diagnostic accuracyValidate AI and calibration models using large-scale clinical datasets, ensuring compliance with regulatory standardsConduct performance benchmarking and statistical analysis to ensure algorithm robustness and reliability

Software Engineering Leadership

Lead the design and development of software components for algorithm deployment within GE Healthcare platformsEnsure adherence to software development best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integrationCollaborate with product management and system engineering to translate clinical and business requirements into technical specificationsMentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with hardware teams to optimize acquisition protocols and integrate algorithms into imaging workflowsPartner with clinical experts to validate algorithm performance and usability in real-world scenariosSupport regulatory submissions by providing documentation and evidence of algorithm performance and safety

Qualifications:

Required

Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field8+ years of experience in algorithm development for medical imaging or related domains.Strong proficiency in Python, C++, and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorchExpertise in image processing, signal processing, calibration techniques, and machine learningExperience with software architecture, design patterns, and agile development methodologies

Preferred

Familiarity with DICOM standards, PACS systems, and healthcare interoperabilityFamiliarity with Cybersecurity  standardsExperience in FDA-regulated environments and knowledge of IEC 62304Strong understanding of bone density measurement, metabolic health imaging, or DXA technologyProven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring teams
