Lead A&P Mechanic
Job Description The Lead A&P Mechanic is responsible for performing, coordinating, and leading maintenance activities at the Miami maintenance base. This includes troubleshooting discrepancies, executing repairs, completing required inspections, and ensuring all documentation meets FAA and company requirements. The role involves leading mechanics through advanced tasks, coordinating materials and tooling needs, scheduling manpower for maintenance coverage, and supporting AOG recovery when required. This position demands strong technical ability, the capacity to work in a high-stress, high-pressure environment, steady leadership, clear communication with Maintenance Control, and consistent adherence to safety and operational standards. Troubleshoot technical discrepancies and perform repairs on company aircraft Perform aircraft inspections per company and FAA procedures Lead and guide mechanics on advanced tasks Organize daily tasks and coordinate inspection/repair activities Coordinate materials and tooling requirements for the entire shift Schedule manpower for inspections and maintenance Communicate findings to Maintenance Control and follow troubleshooting guidance Ensure aircraft documentation is completed accurately before departure Inspect and maintain company equipment and tooling Maintain safety, shop practices, and cleanliness standards Perform manual and aircraft parts inventory Assist other departments to support on-time aircraft departures Additional duties as assigned We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements 3-4 years A&P Experience (aircraft maintenance; A&P mechanic, lead preferred) Ability to work in a high-stress, high-pressure environment (critical) Avionics Experience (Wide Body or Commercial Aircraft) FAA A&P Certificate (regulatory requirement) Excellent communication skills Comfortable working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays High school diploma Valid driver’s license or passport Strong problem solving, prioritization, and operational decision-making Wide‑body Aircraft Experience Previous lead mechanic or acting shift manager experience Experience coordinating materials and tooling for projected work Experience scheduling manpower to cover maintenance and inspections
