Position Summary: Provide clean, unwrinkled clothes and house linens to residents and staff by using proper washing, drying and cleaning methods. Qualifications & Education Required: + High school diploma or GED + One (1) year of related experience required. + Basic mathematical knowledge + Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services + Willingness to embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand Characteristics Position Competencies: + Speedy and timely decision maker, ambitious and driven + Adheres to guidelines and established procedures easily + Enjoys being around people who are different + Adapts appropriately to cultural differences + Welcomes improvements on a small or large scale + Considers downstream consequences + Shifts priorities as needed + Does not need others to provide structure or close supervision + Focus remains in priorities Position Responsibilities: + Fold and iron clean clothes and house linens by hand and machine + Sort and count articles removed from dryers fold and wrap + Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required + Deliver the clean clothes to the resident rooms + Loads and restocks carts and racks for delivery to the various departments and units in the facility daily + Operates the marking machine to adhere labels to the resident’s belongings to deliver them to the proper rooms + Operates washers, dryers, steam tunnels and folding machinery + Occasionally hang clothing + Start washers, dry cleaners, driers, or extractors, and turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives + Help with other duties as needed that support the Core Team to fulfill St John’s mission vision and values Physical Requirements: + Frequently involved in lifting, pulling, pushing and reaching (up to 75 pounds). Moving laundry carts up to 350 pounds. Occasionally squatting and frequently bending. Exposure to Conditions: + May be exposed to infectious diseases. Frequent use of electrical and mechanical equipment. Frequent use of Industrial Cleaning Fluids.
