Position Summary:  

Provide clean, unwrinkled clothes and house linens to residents and staff by using proper washing, drying and cleaning methods.

 

Qualifications & Education Required:

Position Responsibilities:

Fold and iron clean clothes and house linens by hand and machineSort and count articles removed from dryers fold and wrapExamine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique requiredDeliver the clean clothes to the resident roomsLoads and restocks carts and racks for delivery to the various departments and units in the facility dailyOperates the marking machine to adhere labels to the resident’s belongings to deliver them to the proper roomsOperates washers, dryers, steam tunnels and folding machineryOccasionally hang clothingStart washers, dry cleaners, driers, or extractors, and turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additivesHelp with other duties as needed that support the Core Team to fulfill St John’s mission vision and values

 

Physical Requirements:

Frequently involved in lifting, pulling, pushing and reaching (up to 75 pounds). Moving laundry carts up to 350 pounds.    Occasionally squatting and frequently bending.

 

Exposure to Conditions:

May be exposed to infectious diseases. Frequent use of electrical and mechanical equipment. Frequent use of Industrial Cleaning Fluids.
