Job Description
The Launch Engineer will be responsible for the successful launch of new programs, requiring effective communication with customers and internal teams to ensure timelines are met. The role includes setting up equipment layouts, conducting design reviews, and liaising with the corporate team to support necessary documentation.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee all aspects of program management for new program launches.
+ Collaborate closely with Program Managers to ensure successful program development.
+ Lead launch teams consisting of Manufacturing Engineers, Technicians, Quality, Materials, Operations, and Production.
+ Act as the primary owner of program launch readiness.
+ Schedule and oversee the delivery and installation of new launch equipment.
+ Coordinate and supervise early program builds and ensure material availability.
+ Establish work instructions and production boards to support the program launch schedule.
+ Manage internal communications specific to the program to ensure clarity and prevent confusion.
+ Keep leadership informed of the program status.
+ Participate in Best Practices process improvements.
+ Support the development of work cell layouts.
+ Plan and forecast incoming materials to meet launch timing.
+ Implement continuous improvements identified during Lessons Learned to production processes.
+ Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
+ Ensure production processes meet quoted parameters at the time of Run at Rate.
+ Develop and enforce standard operational practices and ensure compliance.
+ Coordinate safety efforts with the Safety Administrator.
+ Stay informed about industry developments.
+ Support IATF initiatives.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD
+ Experience with Kaizen and FMEA
+ Strong background in Manufacturing Engineering
+ Skills in Process Improvement and Continuous Improvement
+ Experience in Automotive Launch and Project Management
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering
+ 1-2+ years in a program management or launch role
+ Preferred experience in automotive manufacturing
+ Knowledge of Tooling and APQP
Work Environment
The work environment includes injection molding and plating lines, which can be hot and dirty in some areas. Limited technical support is available in KY, so a self-starter attitude and high initiative are essential. The company offers 6 paid holidays and 1 week of PTO, providing a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to building the Engineering team.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nicholasville, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
