**Job Title: Laborer** **Job Description** This role involves performing various site preparation tasks throughout the year, including shoveling, irrigation, landscaping, and in winter, tasks such as pumping water, preparing construction sites for concrete trades using heat blankets, and utilizing hydronic surface heaters. The laborer will support carpenters and skilled contractors by handling all site prep work in various weather conditions. **Responsibilities** + Perform site preparation tasks such as shoveling, irrigation, and landscaping. + In winter, pump water, use heat blankets, and operate hydronic surface heaters to thaw frozen ground, cure concrete, prevent frost, and provide temporary heat. + Shovel snow and handle any other tasks to assist carpenters and skilled contractors. + Work in all weather conditions to ensure job site readiness. **Essential Skills** + 1+ years of experience in construction. + 1+ years of experience as a laborer. + 1+ years of experience in material handling using hand tools. + Ability to lift 50 pounds. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience working outside in cold conditions is a plus. + Must be able to follow directions well and work hard. **Why Work Here?** This opportunity offers steady work throughout the year and the potential to advance with a well-known employer in West Michigan, contingent on performance. **Work Environment** The worksite is located in the Kalamazoo area, with the shop based in Mattawan, MI. This is a first shift position starting at 6:30 am until 3 pm, Monday to Friday, with work weeks extending beyond 45 hours. Employees will gather at the shop in Byron Center by 5:45 am to commute to the work site. The role involves working in cold environments, necessitating cold weather, waterproof boots, and warm clothing, ideally Carhartt gear. Workers should bring a change of dry clothes, extra socks, and their own meals. Overtime and weekend work may be required, with weekends being optional whenever possible, and employees will be informed in advance if weekend work is necessary. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mattawan, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
