Description for Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator:

Blood Bank Coordinator position oversees the daily operations of the Blood Bank; responsible for quality control and maintenance, policy and quality management, training, competency, ordering and overseeing blood bank staff as well as compliance with hospital policy and regulatory regulations.Provides technical guidance and assistance to the staff.Develops, reviews and updates technical policy and procedure manuals.Monitors and reviews patient results for significant analytical errors and unusual values and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.Communicates with all shifts and follows through concerning incomplete work/issues. Notifies the director of problem situations and possible solutions.Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator operates the department in a cost-effective manner and maintains expenses within the budget.

Requirements for Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator: 

Bachelor’s Degree.Must have 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the designated discipline and be qualified under CLIA regulations to function as a General or Technical Supervisor.Certified in Clinical Laboratory Science by recognized certifying agencies.Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.
