Position Summary

We are seeking a detail‑oriented, dependable Lab Assistant to join our team! This role is responsible for processing laboratory samples, pulling and packaging specimens, and providing hands‑on support to the pre‑analytical workflow. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and compliance with laboratory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Process incoming laboratory samples according to established protocols.Pull, sort, and prepare specimens for testing or shipment.Package samples securely and in accordance with safety, temperature, and transport guidelines.Assist the Pre‑Analytics team with daily operational needs, including specimen tracking, data entry, and workflow organization.Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper labeling of all samples.Monitor sample integrity and report any discrepancies or issues promptly.Follow all laboratory safety procedures, including proper PPE use and contamination prevention.Support overall lab operations by maintaining a clean, organized work area and restocking supplies as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; additional laboratory coursework or experience preferred.Prior experience in a clinical, research, or diagnostic lab setting is a plus.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.Comfortable working with biological samples.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Strong communication and time‑management skills.Basic computer proficiency (specimen tracking systems, data entry, email).

Working Conditions

Fast‑paced laboratory environment.Frequent standing, walking, and handling of sample materials.Exposure to biological specimens with appropriate safety measures in place.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
