Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The role involves performing routine testing on samples within the Analytical Services laboratory, providing crucial analytical data for various functions such as process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze samples using various physical and chemical analytical techniques with sophisticated analytical equipment.Utilize instrumentation including pH meters, densitometers, dissolved oxygen meters, conductivity meters, calorimeters, viscometers, rheometers, spectrophotometers, auto-titrators, ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma spectrometers (ICP), laser particle size analyzers, gas chromatography (GC), High Pressure Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC), and other laboratory equipment.Perform microbiological tests to determine spore counts and microbiological contamination.Operate STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Waters Empower laboratory data acquisition system.Search databases for test methods, specifications, and standards necessary for analyses.Record, calculate, and report analytical results promptly and accurately.Maintain records to comply with internal and external requirements.Complete daily instrument calibrations and inspections while observing safety and housekeeping practices.Serve as Safety Officer for the shift if required.Maintain laboratory supplies, prepare solutions, clean glassware, and dispose of waste to support laboratory operations.Train others on waste management procedures.Review analytical data and LIMS reports.Communicate and discuss issues with team members and supervision.Diagnose and resolve typical instrument problems independently and assist others.Prioritize workload to enhance laboratory efficiency and productivity.Essential Skills
Proficiency in HPLC and gas chromatography.Quality control experience.Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.High attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School diploma with 4-6 years of lab experience or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.Work Environment
This is a night shift position from 10:30pm to 6:30am, requiring adherence to safety and housekeeping practices. The work involves operating sophisticated laboratory equipment and maintaining laboratory supplies.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muscatine, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
