Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

The individual filling this position will be responsible for operating the instruments used to perform the initial analysis on urine and oral fluid specimens for substances of abuse in accordance with SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations.

ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain the Screening Instrument and perform initial review of test results for donor specimens and QC samples.Conduct tests using refractometers and pH meters.Possess knowledge of screening and specimen validity test methods including EIA, CEDIA, and ELISA.Troubleshoot issues with screening instruments.Adhere to all security procedures to ensure confidentiality of donor information.Follow all established guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.Essential SkillsBS degree in science or equivalent related field.Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds.Full body movement capability.Vision and hearing corrected to meet minimum acceptable norms.Math and reasoning ability for developing and communicating laboratory procedures and reports.Ability to read and comprehend SOP Federal 49 CFR Part 40 and CAP-FDT guidelines.Additional Skills & QualificationsAdvanced understanding of analytical techniques and procedures.Advanced understanding of laboratory instrumentation.Knowledge of certification requirements for SAMHSA CAP-FDT and other relevant regulatory bodies.Understanding of the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems.Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations.Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and supervisors.Ability to provide input and recommendations on operations.Potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials.Work Environment

This position operates within a laboratory setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols due to potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 3 pm to 11:30 pm. The role involves interaction with various laboratory instruments and computer systems, maintaining confidentiality and security of donor information.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
