Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician with a passion for chemistry and a knack for precise, hands-on experimental work. This role is ideal for individuals with a BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field who thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

Perform bench-scale solvent extraction experiments to evaluate and optimize new organic extractants.Prepare aqueous and organic stock solutions, buffers, and reagents with meticulous care.Conduct routine sample collection, handling, and documentation.Prepare samples for ICP-OES analysis through dilution, acidification, filtration, and labeling.Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient lab environment.Support exploratory testing of solid-phase materials and resins for rare earth element separations.Record experimental conditions and results clearly to support data analysis and iteration.

Essential Skills

BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.Some hands-on experience with analytical chemistry techniques, either academic or industry-related.Comfortable working independently and following experimental protocols.Strong attention to detail, especially in solution preparation and sample handling.Willingness to work in an early-stage, fast-moving R&D environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with liquid chromatography (LC, HPLC, or similar systems) is preferred.Familiarity with ICP-OES or ICP-MS workflows.Prior exposure to solvent extraction, ion exchange, or separations chemistry.Experience working with or testing solid-phase resins or adsorbent materials.

Work Environment

This position is based in a lab located in Manhattan. The company consists of a small team, with the founder present 3-4 days per week, allowing the technician to work independently when needed. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, but there is flexibility to accommodate working hours such as 9 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 3 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
