Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician with a passion for chemistry and a knack for precise, hands-on experimental work. This role is ideal for individuals with a BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field who thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment. Responsibilities + Perform bench-scale solvent extraction experiments to evaluate and optimize new organic extractants. + Prepare aqueous and organic stock solutions, buffers, and reagents with meticulous care. + Conduct routine sample collection, handling, and documentation. + Prepare samples for ICP-OES analysis through dilution, acidification, filtration, and labeling. + Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient lab environment. + Support exploratory testing of solid-phase materials and resins for rare earth element separations. + Record experimental conditions and results clearly to support data analysis and iteration. Essential Skills + BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. + Some hands-on experience with analytical chemistry techniques, either academic or industry-related. + Comfortable working independently and following experimental protocols. + Strong attention to detail, especially in solution preparation and sample handling. + Willingness to work in an early-stage, fast-moving R&D environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with liquid chromatography (LC, HPLC, or similar systems) is preferred. + Familiarity with ICP-OES or ICP-MS workflows. + Prior exposure to solvent extraction, ion exchange, or separations chemistry. + Experience working with or testing solid-phase resins or adsorbent materials. Work Environment This position is based in a lab located in Manhattan. The company consists of a small team, with the founder present 3-4 days per week, allowing the technician to work independently when needed. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, but there is flexibility to accommodate working hours such as 9 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 3 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
