Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking two lab technicians to join our team, one to support plastic testing services and the other to support asphalt testing services. The plastics technician role is ideal for entry-level candidates as prior experience is not required, and all responsibilities can be learned through training. However, the asphalt technician role requires prior experience along with an ODOT Asphalt Level 2 Technician certification.

Responsibilities

For Plastics Lab Technician: Prepare and test plastic samples such as pipe sections, polymers, liners, and coatings, conducting mechanical and physical tests per ASTM standards.Document and report results for engineering analysis.Assist in CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) polymer testing, which is a part of our lab services.Maintain testing molds, ovens, presses, and environmental chambers used in plastics testing.For Asphalt Lab Technician: Perform laboratory asphalt testing following ODOT, ASTM standards for mix properties, compaction, gradation, density, binder content, etc.Support asphalt evaluation activities in both lab and field environments.Prepare and process asphalt samples, including heating, splitting, molding, and conditioning.Operate asphalt testing equipment, including gyratory compaction devices, ignition ovens, and nuclear density gauges.Collect, document, and report test data in accordance with applicable standards.Calibrate lab equipment, ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs.Communicate with engineers, project managers, and contractor personnel to support testing needs.Adhere to safety standards, especially when working with nuclear gauges.

Essential Skills

For Plastics Lab Technician: High school diploma.Strong organization and attention to detail.For Asphalt Lab Technician: ODOT Level 2 Asphalt Technician certification.Prior asphalt testing experience.Strong organization and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

For Plastics Lab Technician: Prior lab experience is strongly preferred.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
