Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

This position is responsible for testing production batches according to specific written testing methods and identifying issues of both in-spec and out-of-spec data. The technician will interpret results and historical data to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customers’ requirements for quality, as well as provide instructions to production personnel regarding adjustments to batches as needed. The technician will be involved in the efficient operation of the lab, general housekeeping, ensuring a safe work environment, and will independently perform tasks as outlined by their supervisor.

ResponsibilitiesApprove batches by ensuring all tests are completed and results meet specifications before proceeding to the next production process.Enter all batch data into the electronic batch records system.Generate necessary paperwork per customer specifications.Gather and send customer samples as required.Follow all standard technical procedures, exercising good judgment and initiative.Accomplish assigned work with minimal supervision.Follow appropriate raw material test methods and manage related paperwork when necessary.Manage product retain area by gathering and stocking.Utilize computer systems for effective product testing.Determine disposition of non-compliant finished goods.Place non-conforming material on hold as needed.Support the Management Systems and Safety Systems.Maintain inventory of lab supplies and request when low.Maintain lab housekeeping and clean all test equipment.Adhere to all safety requirements.Identify and communicate product issues to other departments as needed.Review batch slips for completeness and accuracy.Create, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for the Quality Department.Assist in training other lab technicians as needed.Essential SkillsQuality controlChemistryLaboratory experienceGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)Quality control (QC)Use of viscometer and spectrometerTitrationInspectionWet chemistryGas chromatography (GC)pH measurementAdditional Skills & QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.High school diploma or GED.Ability to see color with or without reasonable accommodation.Willingness to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation.1+ years of lab-based experience in material testing.Work Environment

The lab is set in a paint manufacturing environment where exposure to dusty and dirty conditions is common. Technicians should not be afraid to get paint on them. They will work with one other technician on their shift and maintain constant communication with the production team. The lab team has a laid-back atmosphere with a strong team mentality, where members wear multiple hats and support each other.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.26 - $26.26/hr.
