GigaGen, a subsidiary of Grifols seeks a talented, highly motivated Lab Operations Associate to work alongside Scientists, Research Associates and Lab Manager. This role will provide exposure to a pre-clinical biotechnology lab that specializes in next-generation sequencing, cell engineering, antibody therapeutics discovery, and a cutting-edge single cell microfluidic platform. The candidate must work independently as well as demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving abilities.
Primary responsibilities for role:
Oversee shipping and receiving activities Unpacking and labeling of incoming reagents Maintain, organize, and stock general lab consumable inventory Make recommendations to general consumable inventory based on consumption demand Maintain standing inventory orders and create projected forecasts Perform invoice management of received goods Manage laboratory vendors for lab coats, chemical supply, and medical waste Coordinate with equipment installations as needed Maintain equipment lifecycle: monitor and schedule maintenance or repair activities, oversee documentation of work performed Coordinate lab expansion activities as needed Reorganize lab space for optimal use Prepare lab spaces for equipment demos and preventative maintenance activities Maintain general lab cleanliness Oversee performance and maintenance of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and showers Manage laboratory specialty gas systems and supply Assist scientists with various tasks SOP writing for lab facility maintenance activities
Required experience, skills and education qualifications:
High School Diploma required; AA or BS preferred 2-3 years direct laboratory experience required Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Capable of multi-tasking and following standard operating procedures Able to lift to 35 pounds Ability to organize and prioritize work for timely completion Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing Able to easily understand complex instructions Excellent computer skills
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in an office and/or a clinical and/or a laboratory environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, gloves and garments. Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day. May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Light lifting of 15lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 lbs. May reach above and below shoulder height. Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Performs simple and repetitive tasks that vary little each day by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures. Maintains work pace to meet production standards.
The estimated pay scale for the Lab Operations Associate role based in San Carlos, California is $26.00 - $38.00 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
