Lab Manager I

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Manager to join our team in Paducah, KY. The Laboratory Manager will create, implement, and manage the policies, procedures and practices for optimal performance of the clinical diagnostics laboratory.  This is a great leadership opportunity, where you will have the opportunity to facilitate innovation, manage change, and foster teambuilding to provide the highest quality product for our word-class diagnostics laboratory! 

**Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year.

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with extended hours as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Purchases all laboratory supplies and ensures that adequate inventory maintained at each site. Oversees all service agreements and timely resolution of any supply and equipment maintenance are addressed.  Escalates any issues within LabCorp and through vendor contacts as needed Attends Hospital department head meetings as required. Communicates with Baptist Associate Vice-President Laboratory Services on all laboratory functions. Functions as a liaison within laboratory and external services. Collaborates in the development of short and long-term goals and objectives for the department with the Baptist Laboratory Director. Works in conjunction with the Baptist laboratory directors to ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures, and with any applicable local, state, federal and accreditation regulations. Provides consultative support as requested regarding selection, promotions and disciplinary actions in accordance with personnel policies.Conducts meetings with laboratory directors and staff to discuss problems and exchange information. Assists in reviewing new technology including implementation and training of lab personnel.Cooperates and maintain good working relationship with all Hospital departments. Meets with sales representatives to review new products and equipment, schedules in-house demonstrations when necessary.Works with IT on LIS test builds, changes or deletions.Coordinates with appropriate vendor for validation/correlation of instruments. Assists with testing and implementation of instruments. Monitors and compiles monthly lab metrics and provides reports to the TSA System Director. Manages the oversight of the courier service to ensure timely and accurate delivery of specimens. Escalates any lab related issues to TSA System Director and Baptist Associate Vice-President Laboratory Services. Receives appropriate utilization reports from each site related to the fixed and schedule-based fees and submits to TSA System Director and Baptist Associate Vice-President Laboratory Services for approval.Assists with relocating supplies as necessary to ensure continuity of care.Assists in developing appropriate new test procedures when indicated.Assists in communicating changes in any laboratory procedures to Hospital director and personnel. Secures and encourages continuing education opportunities for all employees and documents their attendance as well as budget funds. Assists in maintaining required lab accreditation. Participates in QA internal audits to maintain inspection readiness. Tracks and compiles monthly reports for TSA System Director and Baptist Associate Vice-President Laboratory Services. Assists with tracking of established quality metrics for each site and recommends improvements as needed.

 Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsMinimum 3 years of experience as a Technologist in a clinical diagnostics laboratory is requiredMinimum 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a laboratory is requiredASCP certification is requiredMT/MLT certification is requiredStrong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations is requiredExperience overseeing service agreements and contracts is highly preferredPrior supervisor experience managing several direct reportsPrevious experience managing people leaders is a plus Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment is preferredUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and proceduresProven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employeesAbility to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervisionProficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft OfficeStrong communication skills; both written and verbalHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational skillsComfortability making decisions in a changing environmentAbility to handle the physical requirements of the position
