Job Description
Develops and maintains laboratory operating policies and procedures to ensure efficient, high-quality testing services. Supports proposal and quotation preparation by helping define scope, staffing needs, and pricing. Ensures laboratory staff are properly trained, supervised, and equipped to maintain a safe and productive work environment. Oversees daily laboratory activities to ensure work meets client requirements, project specifications, and company standards. Maintains compliance with the organization’s quality program and the Construction Materials Quality Management System (QMS). Evaluates employee performance and supports professional development. Manages the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring the workspace remains clean, organized, and functional. Assists department leadership with business development efforts to maintain adequate workload and revenue. Oversees administrative processes to ensure accurate and timely preparation of reports, proposals, and documentation, and ensures staff follow company administrative policies. Supports hiring, training, and planning efforts within the department and contributes to annual business planning. May perform laboratory testing as needed based on workload. Promotes risk awareness, safety leadership, and pre-task planning. Encourages continuous quality improvement and ensures quality standards are upheld throughout project execution.

Essential Skills
+ Experience in laboratory management with a focus on concrete, soil, and geotechnical materials.
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or related field and 5 years’ experience in laboratory testing, or 9 years’ related experience without a degree.
+ Certification by qualified national, regional, or state authorities (ACI, NICET, DOT) or in-house certification in concrete, aggregates, soil and rock, or road and paving materials.
+ Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

+ Ability to support business development and proposal preparation.

This is a Permanent position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
