Hiring Unit:
Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
Position Summary:
1. Assisting in performing laboratory tests and experiments such as PCR reactions and agarose gels
2. Washing glassware
3. Autoclaving
4. Refilling plastics as needed (tips, eppendorf tubes...)
5. Keeping the lab plastic inventory up to date
6. Keeping the lab work areas clean and orderly
7. Bringing lab biohazard waste to waste disposal room
8. Preparing plates for bacterial growth
9. The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
McGill Undergraduate students in biomedical sciences programs preferred.
Laboratory safety and biosafety training required- or must be willing to take this training if not already certified. Strong attention to detail, organized, detail-oriented, reliable and able to manage time effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to follow procedures and instructions.
