We are seeking an experienced L3 / SME Backup Technician with expertise in both on-premises backup infrastructure and cloud-based backup and recovery solutions. The candidate will be responsible for advanced troubleshooting, backup job monitoring, policy optimization, and ensuring business continuity across hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
. Min 5–8 years of enterprise backup administration experience.
. Strong knowledge of backup software (Veeam, Cohesity).
. Expertise in backup storage integration (SAN, NAS, cloud storage).
. Hands-on experience with cloud-native backup solutions (Azure).
. Familiarity with tape, disk, and cloud tiering.
. Proficiency in backup encryption, deduplication, and compression techniques.
. Scripting experience for automation.
. Provide L3 support for complex backup incidents, escalations, and root cause analysis.
. Manage and optimize enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, IBM Spectrum Protect).
. Configure and maintain backup policies, retention, replication, and DR failover.
. Administer cloud backup services (Azure Backup & DR, SaaS backups).
. Perform restore, DR drills, and compliance checks.
. Ensure adherence to RPO/RTO requirements.
. Automate backup monitoring and reporting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
. Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and application teams for end-to-end data protection.
. Mentor and support L1/L2 engineers in backup operations.
Preferred Certifications:
. Commvault Certified Professional, Veritas NetBackup Certified, Veeam VMCE, Rubrik CDM.
. Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP Backup Specialist).
