We are looking for a talented **Kubernetes Engineer** to join our **Enterprise Platforms** team in Guadalajara, Jalisco, MX. **Kubernetes Engineer** **Job Summary** At Cummins, we are powering a world that’s always on. As a **Kubernetes Engineer** , you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of container orchestration solutions that support our global development teams. You'll work with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, secure, and cloud-native systems that accelerate innovation through DevOps, Continuous Delivery, and automation. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant influence over system architecture, developer experience, and platform reliability. **Key Responsibilities** + Design and implement high-availability Kubernetes infrastructure across cloud (EKS, AKS) and/or on-premises platforms (e.g., OpenShift). + Drive continuous improvement in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline using tools like GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, JFrog, and Argo Workflows. + Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, enabling automated, scalable deployments. + Administer and optimize Kubernetes clusters, using tools such as Karpenter (auto-scaling), Kyverno (policy enforcement), and service meshes like Istio or Linkerd. + Define and implement non-functional requirements (security, performance, availability, etc.) for Kubernetes workloads. + Collaborate with Product Teams and Architects to align infrastructure with business needs, ensuring reusable, modular components. + Participate in Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Solution Reviews, and Inspect and Adapt events. + Guide the enablement of internal developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Spacelift, Humanitec) to enhance developer productivity and DevEx. + Lead technical evaluations of commercial vs custom solutions, considering security, cost, and long-term scalability. + Advocate for and apply Lean-Agile and SAFe principles, supporting decentralized decision-making and continuous delivery. **Qualifications** **Unique Job Requirements** + Must be comfortable operating in a **global, highly matrixed environment** , aligning with both enterprise-wide architecture and localized DevOps practices. + Expected to play a **strategic and tactical role** , balancing long-term architecture goals with short-term delivery needs. + Ability to **coach teams** on DevOps best practices, promote reusability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. + May require travel or working across global time zones to collaborate with distributed teams. + This position may require compliance with **export control regulations** —applicants must be eligible as per applicable laws. **Responsibilities** **Core Competencies** + **Agile Systems Thinking & Architecture** – Design resilient, scalable architectures using modern DevOps principles. + **Continuous Delivery & Automation** – Champion CI/CD pipelines and automation to enable rapid, safe deployments. + **Communication & Collaboration** – Work cross-functionally with engineering, business, and security teams globally. + **Cloud & DevSecOps Expertise** – Deep understanding of cloud-native tooling, infrastructure security, and compliance standards. + **Innovation & Problem Solving** – Identify opportunities to enhance platform performance and developer efficiency. + **Business & Global Insight** – Align technical strategies with business outcomes and global IT frameworks. + English proficiency sufficient for professional communication **Education, Licenses, Certifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). + Relevant cloud and DevOps certifications preferred: + Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) + Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure certifications + Docker, Puppet, Terraform, or GitHub certifications + CompTIA or other infrastructure/security credentials (preferred) **Experience Required** + **5–8 years** of experience in IT, with at least **5 years working directly with Kubernetes in an administrator or platform engineer role** . + Experience managing Kubernetes clusters with tools such as **EKS, AKS, or OpenShift** . + Strong experience with **GitHub** , including managing workflows and code pipelines. + Hands-on experience with **CI/CD tools** (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, JFrog) and IaC with **Terraform** . + Familiarity with **Kubernetes ecosystem tools** such as **Karpenter** , **Kyverno** , and **service mesh technologies** (Istio/Linkerd). + Experience developing or supporting an **Internal Developer Portal** is a plus. + Prior experience as an IT Architect or working in an Agile enterprise environment is preferred. **Job** Systems/Information Technology **Organization** Cummins Inc. **Role Category** Off-site Remote **Job Type** Exempt - Experienced **ReqID** 2420151 **Relocation Package** No **100% On-Site** No
