COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: Yearly Salary of $86,901 - $121,795 (25/26 Faculty Salary Schedule); Placement within this range is determined by teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Kinesiology, Athletics & Dance department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2026. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance Department at Santa Rosa Junior College is dedicated to promoting lifelong health, wellness, movement, and performance through comprehensive academic instruction, physical education, and competitive athletics. The department integrates scientific principles of human movement with practical, experiential learning to support student success in academic, athletic, and personal development.

Through a diverse range of courses and programs, the department serves students pursuing degrees, certificates, transfer pathways, and personal enrichment. Areas of study include kinesiology, physical education, fitness and wellness, athletic training, coaching, and dance. The department also supports SRJC's 19 intercollegiate athletic programs with over 500 full-time student-athletes, emphasizing teamwork, leadership, equity, and academic excellence.

Essential Functions:
Positive role model for players by being present, energetic, positive, composed, selfless, and prepared.This person must represent our team core values, commitment, integrity, family oriented, and show respect/equality.Ensure compliance with CCCAAWell organized in travel coordination for games as well as all travel paperwork.Well-organized in maintaining recruiting data and scheduling recruiting visits on and off campus.Demonstrated expertise in sport instruction and knowledge of the sport of wrestling. Efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching, training and skill development associated with the sport of wrestling.Knowledge of the total student-athlete experience within the CCCAAAbility to lead, mentor, and motivate student-athletes. Key Duties:
17.06 HEAD COACHING FACULTY A. Student Contact-Related Duties for Head Coaching Faculty: In addition to the duties listed in section 17.02.A, head coaching faculty members have additional student contact-related duties. Examples may include, but are not limited to, the following: Oversees the direction of practice during season of sport and coaches team at scheduled games. Adheres to all regulations, rules, procedures, and policies for athletic programs as established by the NCAA, the COA, and the Conference. Assists student-athletes in preparation for transfer to four-year colleges by: Advising student-athletes about the athletic transfer process; Assisting student-athletes with correspondence to four-year colleges; Preparing follow-up correspondence and telephone contact with four-year college coaches; Initiating contact with four-year college coaches on behalf of their student athletes; Assisting student-athletes in producing game tapes for four-year colleges; f. Assisting student-athletes with their four-year college visitations; Scheduling four-year college coaches to visit the District to recruit student athletes. Assists student-athletes by referring them to orientation, assessment, counseling, registration, financial aid, and student employment. Monitors student-athletes' scholastic progress in coordination with the Counseling and athletic eligibility staff. Encourages student-athletes to play as a team with enthusiasm, discipline, ethical behavior, and sportsmanship. Teaches student-athletes the practical and theoretical strategies and concepts of their respective sports. Provides a safe environment with special respect to the sport and sports injuries.
B. Other Required Duties for Head Coaching Faculty: Examples may include, but are not limited to, the following: Organizes, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the intercollegiate program. Determines student eligibility for athletic programs. Determines programs, goals, objectives, and related activities. Oversees the strength and conditioning program for the sport both in-season and out-of-season. Coordinates the identification and recruitment of eligible individuals by: Recruiting actively in high schools in the area and contiguous districts. This recruitment process includes: high school visitations, individual contacts with the athlete and parents, and home visits; Preparing follow-up correspondence and telephone contact; facilitating District visitation by prospective athletes; Assisting student-athletes by referring them to student employment, financial aid, orientation, counseling, assessment, and registration. Stays abreast of current trends and information in the field. Attends coaching clinics, seminars, trainings, and conferences. Maintains membership in and participates in meetings of local, state, and national coaches' associations. Supplies informational assistance in the preparation of media guides, is available to media for interviews, and is responsible for providing timely game results to local media. Attends community events and speaks on behalf of the District as part of fundraising and outreach efforts. Maintains standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education

OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy

OR

the equivalent (please fill out an equivalency form and submit with application)

Preferred Qualifications:
4 years successful collegiate coaching experience is preferred.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; able to communicate with diplomacy.Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
