About the Role & Program
KGO-TV (ABC7) is an ABC-owned television station (OTV), located in San Francisco near the city’s iconic waterfront. The station is in the #8 ranked television market in the country! The internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming and contribute to daily operations of a major market television station.
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2026 through mid-December 2026.
What You Will Do
Ever wonder what it would be like to work in the world of sports news? Our team is looking for a Sports Intern that will have the opportunity to be immersed in our department and get hands-on experience with covering the top stories in the Bay Area and beyond! You’d be tracking the live game broadcasts and alerting us of any key trends, stats, and information. There are also opportunities to go to the games and help our photographer gather interviews on the field pregame and in the locker rooms postgame, pending health and safety protocols.
Log live games and track key trends, stats and informationAssist our sports photographers in the field and at gamesLearn and ask questions from the Sports Department staffRequired Qualifications & Skills
Experience (academic, employment, or extracurricular) within sports and/or sports journalism or mediaExperience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookHigh attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environmentPreferred Qualifications
Major or previous coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, producing, writing, editing, or related majorExperience using social media for news gatheringPrevious experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writingFamiliarity with newsroom editing software such as Adobe Premiere or DaletEducation
Junior or Senior year preferredEligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney InternshipBe at least 18 years of agePossess unrestricted work authorizationHave not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College ProgramAdditional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internshipThe approximate dates of this internship are June 2026 through mid-December 2026Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the San Francisco, California areaAble to provide/have reliable transportation to/from workThe pay rate for this role in California is $22.50 per hour.
