Key Account Manager

We are seeking a talented individual to join the Consumer & Commercial division at Marsh. This role will be based in Sandton, Johannesburg, hybrid and has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

This role is key to engaging CEs, building relationships and influencing CEs to open opportunities with clients for C&C & pro-actively seek out New Business opportunities.

Sponsors – Associations – Professional, Trade and Sports; New Schemes – Restaurant Franchisees

PCS ESP / PCS HNW / LOWER CORPORATE:

Existing Marsh client base

Identify existing clients and conduct desktop analysis and research to understand client profile, industry etc. to identify opportunities for PCS, Xpress, Affinity

Conversion of opportunities into sales

We will count on you to:

Developing a solid and trusting relationship between major key clients and company

Resolving key client issues and complaints

Developing a complete understanding of key account needs

Anticipating key account changes and improvements

Managing communications between key clients and internal teams

Managing account team assigned to each client

Strategic planning to improve client results

Negotiating contracts with the client and establishing a timeline of performance

Establishing and overseeing internal budgets with the company and external budgets with the client

Working with design, sales team, creative, advertising, logistics, managers, marketing, and team members from other departments dedicated to the same client account to ensure the highest quality of materials are being produced and all client needs met

Collaborating with the sales team to maximize profit by up-selling or cross-selling

Planning and presenting reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, and possible use in future case studies or company training

Meeting all client needs and deliverables according to proposed timelines

Analysing client data to provide customer relationship management

Expanding relationships and bringing in new clients

Cross sell opportunities:

Ensure all products and services available within Marsh Africa are marketed to the client as appropriate

Fostering of sound working relationships with other functional business units.

Familiarity and compliance with all company policies, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Develops routine and effective sales proposals and sales presentations for prospect accounts.

Closes routine sales deals by negotiating values and basic pricing structures to best serve both the business and client needs

Helps with conducting thorough due diligence research leveraging various resources and channels of information to identify or understand prospect accounts or target sales expansion opportunities.

What you need to have:

Able to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently

Goal-oriented, organised team player

Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills

Strong understanding of key clients and industry position

Eager to grow company sales, clients, and territories

Skilled in data analysis and translating sales statistics into solutions

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field; master’s preferred

4-5 years’ experience in sales, management, or key account roles

Excellent verbal and written communication; effective listener and presenter

Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Strong negotiation and contract follow-through skills

Ability to manage multiple client accounts

Proven track record in meeting sales goals and delivering client solutions

Minimum 5 years’ experience in personal lines sales environment

Relevant formal qualifications, including RE 5 and CPD compliance

FAIS compliant as per DOFA

Insurance brokerage experience

Valid driver’s licence and own car
