About the Role & Program
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, near downtown Los Angeles. The station is in the #2 ranked television market in the country. Weekly, our team at ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming, contribute to daily operations of a major market television station, and learn about what we do.
We are looking for an intern to join our collaborative team. You will be provided a view of all aspects of content creation, production and operations of our Community Engagement & Development department at ABC7. This includes working with us on station-corporate initiatives and events originated by ABC7!
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2026 through mid-December 2026.
What You Will Do
Assist with the production of our station initiatives, the community engagement calendar, station newsletters, community engagement events, and Belong team, as neededProduce digital-original content, from concept to completionEngage through social media accounts for the stationInteract with ABC7 community and corporate partners via Microsoft Teams calls, email and phoneConnect with community-based non-profit organizations, and the communities that interact with and are supported by ABC7Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookPrevious experience working in an office setting, including answering emails and phone callsExperience using social media platforms to engage with an audiencePreferred Qualifications
Experience in journalism, community engagement, corporate citizenship & social responsibility, event planning, urban development, and/or social media/brandingExperience using Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet, Airtable, and/or Google DocsDemonstrative video editing experience and/or ability to edit and write original storytelling for multiple platformsEducation
Major or previous coursework in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related majorJunior or Senior year preferredEligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney InternshipBe at least 18 years of agePossess unrestricted work authorizationHave not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College ProgramAdditional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internshipThe approximate dates of this internship are June 2026 through mid-December 2026Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California areaAble to provide/have reliable transportation to/from workThe pay rate for this role in California is $17.81 per hour.
