Job Overview

As a Junior Staff Intern – Data / AI Engineer, you will join a dynamic and supportive engineering team, helping to design, build, and deliver innovative data and AI solutions that transform business decision-making at AT&T.
You will have the opportunity to work on new features, improvements, and data-driven projects in collaboration with Data Scientists, Product Management, Business Systems, and Operations teams.
This opportunity is ideal for university students in their 3rd or 4th year (out of 5) of a Computer Science, Data Science, or related program. While professional experience is highly desirable, relevant coursework, independent or team projects, and a strong desire to learn are sufficient.


Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in or would prefer to be converted to full-time employees at the end of the internship, so that we can retain experience and know-howin house.

Core Responsibilities

Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, models, and AI solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.

Build foundational skills with platforms and tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir, Microsoft Co-pilot Studio/Foundry, Agentforce, and Generative AI (LLMs, RAG workflows).

Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver insights and support data-driven projects.

Learn and apply statistical quality checks, data validation, and support data compliance, anonymization, and synthesis requirements.

Follow best practices in data engineering, analytics, and data quality.

Work with both structured and unstructured data, using modern tools and methods.

Participate in agile processes, team ceremonies, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Demonstrate curiosity, willingness to learn, and continuous improvement.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Day-to-Day

Hands-on coding and experimentation under supervision.

Participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and team meetings.

Learning new data engineering, AI, and analytics technologies.

Asking questions, seeking feedback, and growing technical skills.

Technical Skills

Foundational knowledge in data and AI engineering platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir, Microsoft Co-pilot Studio/Foundry, Agentforce, Generative AI/LLMs/RAG) through coursework or projects.

Programming experience in Python, Java, or SQL (coursework or projects is sufficient).

Exposure to big data tools (Spark, Hadoop) and analytics concepts.

Understanding data modeling and pipeline basics.

Familiarity with structured and unstructured data, data validation, and quality checks (academic or project experience).

Awareness of data compliance, anonymization, and synthesis concepts.

Interest in data visualization and delivering insights.

Exposure to agile methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) in a team or academic setting.

Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.

Additional Desirable Experience

Relevant coursework and/or independent/team projects using modern data engineering and AI tools.

Internship or part-time experience in a technology environment (highly desirable but not required).

Experience working in a team setting, either academically or professionally.

Education

Bachelor level degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field of study.

Salary:

Slovakia - starting at 1500 EUR/a month gross. The actual salary is based on your skills, experience and knowledge.

Location and Work Environment

These roles are based in Bratislava, Slovakia; Kosice, Slovakia; and Brno, Czechia. They are hybrid-flex positions requiring presence in the office 1-3 times per week, with occasional travel between these locations.

During the summer, while school is off, we expect full-time commitment. During the school year, this may turn into a part-time arrangement depending on your course load and availability.
