Job Description
Position SummaryThe Junior Accountant supports daily accounting operations and month-end close activities under supervision. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working within established processes. The Junior Accountant prepares routine journal entries, performs reconciliations, assists with accounts payable and billing, and escalates complex or unfamiliar items for review.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & CashEnter vendor invoices and perform manual 3-way match (PO, invoice, packing slip)Prepare check runs and route for approval prior to processingProcess cash receipts using a remote deposit machineMaintain organized supporting documentationAccounts Receivable & BillingEnter customer invoices based on packing slips or production supportAssist with AR tracking and follow up as assignedEnsure billing accuracy and completenessGeneral AccountingPrepare routine journal entries (payroll, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, inventory) under reviewAssist with month-end close activitiesPerform account reconciliations with guidance and reviewMaintain proper support and sign-offs for all entriesFixed Assets & Reporting SupportTrack capital spending and assist with placing assets in serviceSupport depreciation schedules and fixed asset roll-forwardsAssist with periodic reporting requestsLearning & CollaborationAsk questions and seek clarification before posting unfamiliar or unusual entriesFollow standard operating procedures and checklistsCollaborate with accounting team members and cross-functional partnersEscalate issues appropriately to the Accounting Supervisor or Senior AccountantQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (manufacturing a plus)Basic understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and AP/ARComfortable working in ERP and accounting systemsStrong attention to detail and willingness to learnAbility to follow established processes and accept feedbackCompensationSalary range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and internal equity.
