Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting core accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow within the organization. This position offers a clear path for advancement, with the potential to evolve into a Director of Accounting role.
Responsibilities
Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.Accurately enter financial data and ensure proper documentation in line with recordkeeping standards.Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures.Prepare and submit journal entries with appropriate documentation and approvals.Review and validate invoices, purchase orders, and other financial documents for accuracy and completeness.Help generate financial reports for internal teams and external stakeholders, including audit support and financial statements.Respond to financial inquiries from departments, vendors, and external contacts in a professional manner.Uphold confidentiality and ensure compliance with relevant laws, policies, and financial regulations.Support audit processes by organizing and providing necessary documentation.Demonstrate strong attention to detail and maintain a high level of professionalism.Perform additional accounting duties as assigned.Essential Skills
Solid experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, month-end close processes, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.Foundational knowledge of accounting principles; familiarity with GAAP is preferred.Exposure to fund accounting or governmental accounting systems is a plus.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data organization.Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset for team-based environments.Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding abilitiesAdditional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.CPA certification is preferred, or a strong interest in pursuing one.1–2 years of professional accounting experience; experience in governmental accounting is a plus.Ability to remain focused and productive while performing repetitive or complex tasks for extended periods.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Work Environment
This role is based in a standard office setting, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Initial training will take place on-site, with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement for qualified candidates. Occasional extended hours may be required during audit periods or fiscal year-end closeouts.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr.

• 12 paid vacation days and 12 paid sick days each year of employment after probation ends
• 12-14 PAID holidays per year
• A percentage (currently 13.63% subject to change each July) of your Gross salary is allotted to a State Retirement Plan (FRS) for you. The employer pays this percentage, and you contribute 3%.
