Journeyman Information Security Analyst

GovCIO is currently hiring for Journeyman Information Security Analyst to support a mission-critical U.S. Coast Guard program. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in STIG compliance, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation. This position will be located in Kearneysville, WV and will be a hybrid position. 

Responsibilities Execute remediation of legacy STIG and vulnerability findings across all Areas of Responsibility (AOR).  Analyze vulnerability data, prioritize remediation efforts based on risk, and collaborate with system administrators to address backlog vulnerabilities.  Validate all remediation activities to ensure compliance with applicable security standards and policies.  Coordinate with ISSOs to resolve data inconsistencies and meet ATO deadlines for system boundaries.  Document all remediation processes and outcomes to establish repeatable procedures and maintain compliance.  Support continuous improvement of security posture through proactive identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities.  Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years (or commensurate expertise). 

 

Required Skills and Experience 

 

Clearance: Active Secret clearance  Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)  STIG Expertise: Hands-on experience with STIG configuration and remediation for Windows and Linux servers.  Security Hardening: Strong understanding of security principles and standards, with experience in system hardening within government or highly regulated environments.  Risk Assessment: Ability to assess risks and prioritize remediation efforts accordingly.  Documentation: Skilled in creating clear, detailed documentation for security processes and remediation activities. 

 

Preferred Skills and Experience 

 

Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting languages for automation of administrative tasks.  Certifications: CISSP or equivalent preferred.  Communication: Ability to write and present clear reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.  Company Overview

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
