Job Title: Journeyman Electrician (Lighting Specialist - BHM)

Job Description

A Lighting Specialist is a professional responsible for evaluating and designing NEC lighting solutions for outdoor settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Expertise in lighting technology, design principles, and energy efficiency are desirable.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal partners and vendors, including Lighting Services Sales, NEC Lighting Construction Coordinators, and other stakeholders, to support pricing, design prints, and material lists for lighting proposals.Create customized lighting plans that meet aesthetic and functional requirements as per provided photometrics.Recommend and specify appropriate lighting fixtures, lamps, and controls based on design concept and budget.Perform voltage drop calculations to determine optimal wire, cable, and breaker/fuse loading according to NEC standards.Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including energy codes and safety guidelines.Provide cost estimates for projects and manage budgets while delivering high-quality lighting solutions.Create detailed lighting plans, technical drawings, and specifications for contractors and installers.Stay updated on the latest lighting products, technologies, and trends, and recommend new products for projects.Conduct on-site evaluations to assess existing lighting conditions for retrofit or renovation projects.Collaborate with electrical engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure seamless implementation.Incorporate smart lighting systems, automation, and controls to enhance user experience where appropriate.

Essential Skills

Journeyman Electrician License in the State of AlabamaExperience in lighting design and implementation, preferably in residential, commercial, or industrial settingsComprehensive understanding of the NEC code bookProficiency in AutoCAD or Blue BeamExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlinesMeticulous attention to detail for precise calculations and specifications

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with athletic field lighting and interstate lightingAbility to learn lighting principles, photometrics, and emerging lighting technologiesAbility to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.
