Journeyman Electrician
**Job Title: 1st Shift Journeyman Electrician** **Job Description** This role will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on all manufacturing equipment. A successful candidate will have a sense of urgency with a safety mindset. **Responsibilities** + Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, control panels, lighting, power distribution, and machinery wiring. + Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices and methods. + Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams. + Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. + Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards. + Maintain accurate records of repairs, modifications, and inspections. + Assist with new equipment installation and facility upgrades. + Identify and recommend improvements for electrical systems and processes. + Work closely with maintenance and production teams to support plant operations. + Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements. + Respond to emergency electrical issues as needed, including potential overtime. **Essential Skills** + Valid Journeyman Electrician Card. + Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial or commercial electrical experience preferred. + Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial automation a plus. + Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Good communication and organizational skills. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Automotive experience is a plus. + Able to perform work responsibilities safely and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations. + Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner. + Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy a full benefits package starting on day 1 after completing 6 months. The facility spans close to 300,000 sq. ft. The work schedule is 1st shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with expectations of working most Saturdays until fully staffed. Some Sundays may be required, offering double time compensation. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Battle Creek, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.
