Senior Technical Information Technology (IT) Manager
Position Description Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Information Technology (IT) Manager with extensive experience in network and security engineering and exceptional leadership capabilities to lead, manage, and actively contribute to critical IT projects. This role demands a balanced blend of hands-on technical expertise, team leadership, and stakeholder coordination to drive innovative solutions and deliver reliable outcomes.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of approximately 10 employees, composed of direct hires and contractors, fostering collaboration and ensuring seamless integration of advanced technologies. They will take charge of managing technical resources, setting priorities, and facilitating communication between project teams and stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of complex initiatives.
This role requires hands-on involvement in deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical technologies, including Juniper routers and switches, Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto firewalls, F5 load balancers, QRadar, and Riverbed, as well as supporting efforts related to cloud migrations and the integration of hybrid multi-cloud architectures. The Sr Technical Manager will oversee projects that bring together these advanced networking and security solutions to achieve organizational goals and address stakeholder priorities effectively.
As the leading point of contact across technical teams and multiple stakeholder groups, the Sr. Technical Manager will serve as the bridge between diverse priorities, ensuring alignment with customer goals and program objectives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in managing multiple concurrent projects, coordinating across stakeholders, prioritizing diverse customer needs, and balancing a portfolio of solutions involving network security integration and emerging cloud technologies. Distinguished technical acumen, leadership, and the ability to manage complex projects and technologies are critical to success in this role.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum of 15 years of experience as a Technical Information Technology (IT) Project Manager.
Proven expertise overseeing all aspects of Network and Security Engineer projects. This includes leading large client-focused projects or managing significant segments of complex projects.
Specialized experience in identifying project requirements, designing advanced IT and network solutions, troubleshooting project-related challenges, and creating innovative strategies to address complex problems.
Experience managing schedule, technology, methodology, tools, network infrastructure solutions, and financial management related to IT projects.
Education and Certifications:
Must possess an Engineering or Computer Science degree, OR a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification with 15 years of relevant technical IT experience to substitute for the degree requirement.
Technical Competency and Skills:
Advanced professional experience performing network system analysis, long-range and short-range planning for network infrastructure, systems development, and maintenance.
Expertise in analyzing and evaluating network hardware (e.g., Juniper, Cisco), virtual appliances, and security engineering projects during various lifecycle phases such as designing, testing, and deploying.
Effective leadership skills to oversee production activities and coordinate support resources for large-scale network infrastructure teams.
Specific Competencies:
Ability to apply advanced network computer systems concepts supporting IT and communication technologies within hybrid multi-cloud environments.
Provide expert technical oversight and training for teams handling the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and management of complex networking and security solutions.
Experience supporting procurement of IT, network, and security infrastructure resources and services.
Skilled in financial resource management for projects exceeding $3 million annually.
Experience managing multiple, concurrent network and security engineering projects across system lifecycles.
Proficient in developing innovative approaches to solving advanced network engineering problems in cloud-based and on-premises systems.
Experienced in leading teams to resolve engineering uncertainties, ensuring technological compliances, and meeting system requirements.
Proven ability to develop and present technical project reports and status briefings to customers and senior management.
Leadership and Communication Capabilities:
Adept at liaising with customers and senior managers to prioritize system requirements, resolve complex IT-related problems, and develop solutions that exceed expectations.
Strong experience in coordinating project teams to address major uncertainties and critical challenges during the lifecycle of security and network system implementation
Preferred Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of Juniper and Cisco networking systems, hybrid multi-cloud architectures, and Palo Alto firewall technologies.
Hands-on experience with the integration of virtual and physical network appliance solutions in diverse infrastructure environments.
The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
