IT Metadata SME and Admin

Role Summary:

Managing, maintaing, and optimizing our enterprise Metadata management platform. This role combines technical administration with subject matter expertise to ensure data governance, compliance, and accessibility across the organization. Will be a member of the Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance Program (EDSG) and support all metadata aspects in our various data and analytics initiatives. The EDSG Program is one of the enterprise priorities for 2026 onwards and the scope includes Data Warehouse setup and extraction, data cleansing and data source corrections, master data management, and analytics projects.


Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain the metadata management tool and related components.

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.

Manage user access, roles, and security settings in compliance with organizational policies.

Define and implement metadata standards, taxonomies, and data dictionaries.

Collaborate with data stewards and business units to ensure metadata accuracy and completeness.

Support data lineage, cataloging, and classification initiatives.

Develop and maintain workflows for metadata ingestion and updates.

Automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Provide recommendations for tool enhancements and integration with other data platforms.

Keep stakeholders informed periodically about the status of the tool, progress of initiatives and quality of data and metadata.

Report any challenges and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to the established process for escalation.

Act as the subject matter expert for metadata management practices.

Train business users and technical teams on tool functionality and best practices.

Provide ongoing support and resolve user queries promptly.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or related field and 5-7 years of work experience in metadata management, data analytics, and/or data engineering in fields such as Logistics, Supply Chain, Materials, Finance, IT, Data or Industrial Manufacturing environments where you attained:

Excellent oral and written communication skills required (in English). Other languages are a plus.

Proven experience in administering metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica EDC, Denodo, Alation, etc.).

Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata standards.

Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with APIs for integration.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Willing to travel, when required, up to 15-20% domestic and/or international travel to any of the world-wide Flowserve sites.

Preferred:

Familiarity with ETL processes and data modeling concepts.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required (in English). Other languages are a plus.

Affinity with ERP and other IT Systems (Oracle, SAP, BPC, PowerBI, MS Office).

Smartsheet and/or other Project Management tools

Strong organizational, time management, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization and possess the ability to work in a cross-functional matrix environment.

Work experience in the manufacturing industry will be an added advantage.

Certification Like CDM Professional or tool specific certifications
