IT Hardware Support Technician – Data Center
**Job Title:** IT Hardware Support Technician **Location:** Boydton, VA **Pay Range:** $23/hr. – $25/hr. **Shift:** _Day Shift A: 12-hrs (Sun-Wed) & (Sun-Tue) = 6 | Day Shift B: 12-hrs (Thu-Sat) & (Wed-Sat)_ **Summary:** We are seeking a **Data Center Technician – Technical IT 1** to support operations at our Boydton, VA location. This role involves hardware decommissioning, cable removal and staging, basic troubleshooting, and working closely with Data Center Technician Leads. You will also help monitor systems and perform basic audits and diagnostics under guidance. **Top 3 Required Skills:** 1. **Basic Computer Hardware & Server Knowledge** 2. Familiarity with components like network cables, power supplies, and server hardware. 3. Ability to perform basic hardware troubleshooting, installations, and decommissions. 4. **Attention to Detail & Physical Task Execution** 5. Experience labeling, staging, and removing power/network cables. 6. Ability to follow procedures accurately and conduct physical audits of data center assets. 7. **Adaptability & Communication in Team Settings** 8. Ability to follow detailed instructions from Data Center Technician Leads. 9. Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially during shift-based operations including weekends/holidays. **Key Responsibilities:** + Remove network cables as part of datacenter decommissioning tasks + Run, label, and stage power and networking cables + Perform DBD (Device-Based Decommissioning) removal (no scanning involved) + Prepare, install, troubleshoot, replace, or decommission equipment under guidance + Perform startups and shutdowns for hardware per documentation and checklists + Conduct physical audits of datacenter assets + Monitor systems for equipment failure or performance errors + Respond to system alerts or program error messages and assist in issue resolution + Assist programmers and analysts in testing/debugging new programs + Operate spreadsheet software and other tools to manage data and generate reports **Required Qualifications:** + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent + 0–2 years of experience in a similar technical role + Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components + Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) + Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours including weekends/holidays + Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills + Ability to work independently and within a team environment **Preferred Qualifications:** + Associate degree in computer programming or equivalent training If this is a role that interests you and you’d like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
