Position Description
This is a Non-Civil service position located within the Justice Integration Services Department. The Software Developer will be responsible for the design and development of client/server case managements systems. The Software Developer works with business analysts and end users to develop requirements for software conforming to established standards.

Typical Duties
+ Design and code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems
+ Ability to interpret business rules and software requirements, and translate them into program logic
+ Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs
+ Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, issues, or questions about applications
+ Perform unit tests for software applications
+ Prepare documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program
+ Good listening and overall communication skills
+ Work well in a team environment
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of experience in database applications development and client/server application development using Power Builder (Visual Basic 6 or Delphi experience will also be considered).
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience using Oracle PL/SQL to create SQL, Packages, Procedures, Functions, and Triggers
+ Knowledge in C#, .NET, MVC, Web Services, JavaScript, SQL Server, and WordPress
+ Full life cycle development experience
