Job Title: IP/Console Design Release Engineer

Job Description

As an IP/Console Design Release Engineer, you will spearhead engineering design evaluations and concept development for global vehicle programs. You will leverage engineering tools and collaborate with CAE groups to optimize system solutions, ensuring the integration of new technology and innovative designs.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs.Use engineering tools and collaborate with CAE groups, including Safety Performance, to develop optimal system solutions.Assess design to manufacturing processes such as injection molding, vibration welding, vacuum forming, and more for instrument panels and consoles.Evaluate manufacturing processes for IP Structures, including stamping, extrusion, robotic welding, die casting, and hybrid concepts.Package components and collaborate with systems including Thermal, Electrical, Body, Chassis, and Restraints.Support initial vehicle configuration, cost optimization, and implementation of product and process improvements.Balance business imperatives such as cost, mass, complexity, and timing.Communicate with internal and external customer organizations and lead the product development team.Stay ahead of relevant new technology and products.Initiate the design process and perform design analysis.Diagnose and correct deficiencies while maintaining cost controls.Provide technical direction to support personnel and coordinate with suppliers and customers.Plan and implement test and development programs.

Essential Skills

Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Intermediate experience with Lotus Notes or other email communication tools.Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration.Effective written and oral communication skills for meetings and presentations.Ability to work well with others and exhibit teamwork skills.Experience partnering with management to analyze and solve issues.Ability to multitask and handle diverse assignments concurrently.Strong skills in sketching, engineering drawings, and common computations.Understanding of materials, engineering theory, and principles of design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of experience in body interiors.Engineering Degree.Experience in injection molding.Experience with interior plastic parts, IP, or Console DRE.Knowledge of RedX and DFSS is a plus.Strong analytical ability and interpersonal skills.Experience with autonomous and electric vehicle technologies.Experience with heavy studio interface and style, including plastic injection molding, chroming, and painting.

Work Environment

The position offers a flexible work environment with a majority of remote work and occasional trips to the Warren Campus. There may be travel requirements of up to 25%, potentially involving domestic or international trips to locations such as Canada, Mexico, Korea, or China. A valid passport is required. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility available. The role operates within a 'Work Appropriate' model, requiring weekly on-site presence as needed

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54.00 - $56.00/hr.
