This position serves as an investigative and analytical resource to the Board, supporting regulatory oversight, enforcement activities, and public protection. The incumbent responds to complaints and inquiries, conducts investigations, analyzes industry data, and ensures license holders and trainers meet statutory and regulatory requirements. The position works collaboratively with law enforcement, Board staff, and industry stakeholders and represents the Board in public and formal proceedings. **Key Responsibilities** + Conduct investigations and respond to complaints related to private investigative and security services. + Review, analyze, and respond to regulatory, enforcement, and licensing inquiries from licensees, applicants, law enforcement, Board staff, and the public. + Compile detailed investigative reports, findings, and recommendations for management and Board review. + Analyze data related to the private investigative and security industry to support enforcement and regulatory decisions. + Process license applications, renewals, training certifications, and related administrative functions. + Ensure compliance with Minnesota Statutes 326.32–326.339 and Administrative Rules 7506.0100–7506.2900. + Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as needed on regulatory and enforcement matters. + Provide statutory, regulatory, and policy guidance to local law enforcement regarding private security and investigative services. + Represent the Board by presenting information at public meetings, industry conferences, contested case hearings, and legislative hearings. DPS does not participate in E-Verify. **Minimum Qualifications** 1. One (1) year of experience in law enforcement, auditing, or investigations. Associate level degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field may substitute for 6 months of experience. 2. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and with public presentations. 3. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities. 4. Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. **Preferred Qualifications** 1. Three to five years' work experience conducting investigations or auditing. 2. Excellent time management and organizational skills. 3. Ideal candidate will have significant prior private security/investigations industry experience or prior law enforcement/investigative experience to address the nuances of identifying deception, following relevant leads, understanding and applying conflict/interpersonal dynamics balanced by the exactness of statutes or regulations and be willing to educate individuals on the nuances of regulations and training as may be needed. **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods. **Additional Requirements** A Criminal History Background check and reference checks will be completed on the prospective employee.
