The Capacity Planning Team provides Amazon Operations with cost-optimal and flexible capacity solutions for operational activities year-round, enabling the business to scale for seasonal peak demand increases. This role is based out of our corporate office. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging data to deliver actionable insights that impact daily business, has a strong delivery record, and is experienced in driving execution in a cross-functional environment, backed by analysis and data. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, relish working with large amounts of data, and enjoy the challenge of solving highly complex, and sometimes ambiguous problems.

A day in the life
As a Planning Analyst in the Capacity Planning Team, your daily responsibilities will center around generating and maintaining data-driven capacity plans to ensure operational efficiency. You will start your day by reviewing performance metrics and analyzing any execution gaps from previous plans, using these insights to refine future forecasts. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on resource requirements and implementation strategies. You will spend time diving deep into data analysis, using tools like SQL and Excel to extract meaningful patterns and trends that inform your planning decisions. Regular stakeholder meetings will be part of your routine, where you'll present your findings and recommendations to key business partners. Your role will also involve continuously monitoring planning accuracy, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing solutions to enhance the planning process. Working in this dynamic environment, you'll need to remain flexible and ready to respond to changing business needs while maintaining focus on long-term strategic planning objectives.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, business analytics, information systems, or related field
Proficiency in MS Excel
Fluency in SQL
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Work experience in operations/supply chain/logistics
Knowledge of VBA
Exposure to capacity planning
Experience working with data warehouse systems
Experience working cross-functionally
Experience in complex problem solving and root cause analysis
Experience with supply chain management concepts
