Inventory Control Specialist
Job Title: Inventory Control SpecialistJob Description

Our Client is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to support warehouse operations. The role involves performing physical inventory cycle counts, updating data in a Warehouse Management System (WMS), communicating with customers via email, and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and cherry pickers. Candidates must be flexible with shift times and available to work weekends or holidays as needed. Safety compliance, reliability, and strong communication skills are essential.

ResponsibilitiesPerform physical inventory cycle counts and update data in the HighJump WMS system.Execute inventory adjustments, product holds/releases, and other WMS functions.Communicate professionally via email with customers and internal teams.Operate forklifts and cherry pickers safely and efficiently.Wear safety vest and harness at all times while in the warehouse or operating equipment.Maintain accurate daily shift reports including start/end times and summary of tasks completed.Collaborate with Inventory and Operations teams, including Outbound Shipping.Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.Participate in onboarding and training with HR and assigned team buddy.Remain flexible to work either shift and on weekends or holidays as needed.Avoid personal cell phone use and headphones while onsite.Take scheduled breaks only during designated lunch periods.
Essential SkillsExperience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) platforms, preferably HighJump.Ability to navigate system menus, input data, and generate reports.Strong attention to detail and comfort with digital systems.Data entry and customer service skills.Troubleshooting and inventory management.Quality control and document control.Proficiency in operating forklifts and cherry pickers.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in inventory control and warehouse operations.Strong communication skills.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled warehouse facility with active inventory movement and shipping operations. It requires frequent walking, lifting, climbing, and operating equipment such as forklifts and cherry pickers. Safety is a top priority, with strict adherence to PPE requirements including safety vests and harnesses. The environment is team-oriented, promoting collaboration between Inventory, Operations, and Outbound Shipping teams. The technology-driven setting uses WMS (HighJump) and Excel for inventory tracking and reporting. The structured schedule offers two shift options, requiring flexibility for occasional weekend or holiday work. Professional conduct is expected, with no personal cell phone use or headphones allowed during work hours; breaks are designated for lunch only.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
