Role Summary:
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for managing end-to-end inventory control activities, including receiving purchase orders, conducting cycle counts, picking and packing parts for jobs, and coordinating shipping and receiving activities. This role ensures accurate inventory records through timely system transactions, correct stock location management, and proper documentation. The Inventory Control Clerk works closely with the Quality team to verify material certifications prior to releasing materials or components to manufacturing and ensures all items, including customer property and company stock, are handled and stored correctly in accordance with company standards.
Responsibilities:
Receive all incoming goods on the same day, ensuring items are correct, free from damage, and match purchase orders and delivery documentation.
Identify and report discrepancies or errors to the supervisor promptly.
Store parts in correct bin locations and complete all receiving transactions accurately within the company operating system.
Ensure all receipts, dock deliveries, and inventory transactions are processed and updated in the system on the same day.
Pick, pack, label, and dispatch goods accurately in accordance with company and customer requirements to meet delivery expectations.
Select parts based on picking slips, complete system transactions, and ensure correct packing and labelling with part and customer numbers where required.
Prepare parts and seals for assembly by sealing, placing them in tub bins with job cards, and staging them in the assembly area.
Maintain accurate stock status by ensuring all parts and seals are transacted through the inventory system at all times.
Run inventory and stock reports to support daily operations and reconcile cycle counts on a daily basis.
Monitor purchase order due dates and actively follow up and expedite deliveries as required.
Maintain and replenish consumable stock levels.
Book couriers and freight services for collection and dispatch of goods.
Communicate order status updates and assist with tracking shipments through to delivery completion.
Support troubleshooting of order or delivery issues to maintain on-time performance.
Collaborate professionally with the Quality team to ensure all quality-related documentation is accurate and complete.
Assist with periodic stock takes.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised work environment in compliance with company safety standards, including correct manual handling practices.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and remain organised in a high-volume environment.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and process compliance.
Good computer skills, including experience using inventory management or ERP systems.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal teams and external service providers.
Understanding of safe work practices, including correct lifting and material handling techniques.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Previous warehouse or inventory control experience, including receiving, dispatch, and stock handling.
Experience with inventory order entry and transaction processing.
Forklift licence or certification.
