Job Description
The Project Manager – Biopharma Supply Chain is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and optimization of supply chain activities supporting monoclonal antibody (mAb) manufacturing. This role integrates project management, supply operations, forecasting, vendor management, and data-driven systems oversight to ensure uninterrupted material availability, compliant workflows, and operational readiness for manufacturing, NPI, and site-wide initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in biologics supply chain operations, combined with strong project leadership, analytical capabilities, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Operations Management
Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities for API, drug substance, single-use systems, buffers, media, and other critical biologics manufacturing materials.
Manage inbound and outbound material flow, ensuring proper receipt, release, tracking, and GMP-compliant handling.
Maintain inventory levels through proactive monitoring, replenishment planning, and usage tracking to prevent shortages or excess.
Ensure material readiness to support manufacturing schedules, tech transfers, equipment qualification, and NPI activities.
2. Forecasting & Planning
Develop short- and long-term material forecasts based on production plans, historical consumption, and projected usage.
Translate manufacturing and R&D demand signals into accurate supply chain plans.
Conduct scenario planning to anticipate supply risks, changes in production volume, and project timelines.
Partner with operations, procurement, and finance to align supply plans with budget and capacity constraints.
3. Vendor Management & External Partner Coordination
Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers of biologics materials, single-use components, and critical consumables.
Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality compliance.
Lead vendor-related issue resolution, escalations, and risk mitigation.
Coordinate closely with procurement, quality, validation, R&D, and manufacturing to ensure aligned expectations and continuity of supply.
4. Systems & Data Management
Utilize SAP (MM, PP, and related modules) for master data management, MRP, material transactions, and purchase order workflows.
Use Power BI or similar tools to build dashboards, supply visibility reports, and KPI metrics.
Ensure data integrity across systems to support compliance, audit readiness, and operational excellence.
Leverage MES, digital tools, and site planning systems to integrate supply chain data into project controls.
5. Project Management & Operational Optimization
Lead supply chain workstreams supporting operational excellence, capacity planning, calibration/validation readiness, and resource optimization.
Develop finite schedules and project plans for supply-critical activities using tools such as MS Project, Power Project, or Planner Premium.
Analyze non-critical paths and parallelize activities across supply, QC, logistics, and manufacturing to improve throughput.
Drive structured transitions from joint client–consulting models to fully owned project structures, ensuring governance and continuity.
Facilitate SWAT meetings to address delays, material risks, and cross-functional blockers.
6. Communication, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
Provide clear communication plans, dashboards, reports, and project updates to leadership and teams.
Collaborate with finance, quality, operations, and procurement to align on priorities, risk mitigation, and resource needs.
Maintain transparency through structured reporting and decision frameworks.
Support change management to ensure adoption of new processes, systems, and project structures.
