Job Summary:\rFunctions under the direction of the clinical coordinator and/or department manager. The interventional special procedures technologist assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. The technologist has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The technologist is able to independently perform job functions. He/she sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. Able to perform procedures in both the IR and vascular hybrid interventional procedural setting.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rClinical Skills\rCompletion of VI competencies\rAble to use critical thinking skills\rWork in conjunction with radiologists/ vascular surgeons/ cardiologists\rPreps the patient for procedure\rDemonstrates and understands sterile technique\rPrepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure\rEnters appropriate charges for supplies and procedures (SIM CODES)\rDepartmental Responsibilities\rMust be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs\rAble to work scheduled and On-Call\rKnows existing lines of communication and authority\rHandles communications properly\rIntroduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting ie. AIDET\rTransports patients as needed\rProvides privacy and comfort for patient/customers\rAssists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement\rCompletes necessary paperwork\rAnswers departmental phone using proper scripting\rMaintains stock levels and outdates\rMaintain current License and BLS certifications\rAssist in inservice/training for other medical imaging staff as appropriate\rWorks as a team with other VI staff to obtain the best possible outcome\rPerforms any other duties as needed when asks by leadership\rQuality and Patient Safety\rVerifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identification\rVerifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker\rVerifies Written Order and Consent, seeks clarification if order or consent unclear\rUses and understands preprocedural verification/ time out form\rUnderstands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated\rPatient Education\rResponsible for patient, family/support system education\rProvide post procedural home care instructions as needed\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:High School Diploma General or GED General or Accredited Program Radiologic Technology\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.ARRT-R - ARRT Radiography or ARRT-S - ARRT SonographyBLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 1 year experience in Diagnostic Radiology Required\rRequired Minimum Skills:
