Job Description / Essential Elements: PrintINTERVENTION SPECIALIST
To assist in the process of classroom teaching and do related work as required, all under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
ABILITY TO:
Work to uphold school-wide systems, procedures and expectations.
Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, presents lessons of the clear and logical structure, assessed student of understanding the relationships of concepts, displaying skills in making lessons and just saying, and stays abreast of current trends in subject matter.
Plan and implement appropriate instructional activities, prepare appropriate materials for assignments, develop lessons appropriate to time constraints, relates lessons to curriculum or course of study and includes interactive and engaging lessons that address all modalities of learning.
Plan and implement appropriate long and short-range objectives for each assigned course/standard.
Work cooperatively and effectively with students, parents, teachers and administrators.
Provide individualized instruction, adjust instructional approach and follow-up activities to the ability of the individual student, demonstrates knowledge of each student’s achievement level and needs, and uses questions that require responses at a variety of cognitive levels.
Differentiated instructional practices that promote student academic success and respond to students’ diverse needs.
Effectively instruct students in subject matter, utilizing various teaching methods such as demonstration, technology, and other materials to supplement presentations.
Provide effective instructional strategies that engage students in problem solving, critical thinking and other activities that make subject matter meaningful.
Pre-teach content standards to assist students in developing their mastery of the standards.
Review subject matter content standards that have been previously taught by the classroom teacher.
Use various instructional materials, resources, and technologies to make subject matter accessible to all students.
Establish appropriate relationships with students, actively interacts with students, and demonstrate enthusiasm, intellectual stimulation, and organization in order to promote student achievement.
Help to develop each student’s self-image, respect the dignity of each student, strives to develop positive self attitudes of self-worth and evidence and assist students in understanding and developing healthy peer relationships.
Encourage students to accept responsibility, educate students of the rights and responsibilities of living in a democracy, encourages participation in school activities, teach self discipline, and allows for individual responsibility and freedom commensurate with maturity level.
Assist the students in setting and achieving goals, assures the students are knowledgeable of objectives been taught daily, communicates with students about their achievement and goals, and offer specific guidance and suggestions that aid students in the process of achieving goals. As well as establish professional development goals for your group of students that you assist each quarter.
Analyze informal and formal student assessment results and use this information to drive small group or one-on-one instruction.
Monitor student progress in the class by checking in with the classroom teacher weekly, and evaluate results and adjust pre-teaching or re-teaching as needed, and provides timely feedback to the classroom teacher.
Ensure continuous communication with teachers, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress and behavior.
Work in a self-contained, team capacity as assigned; instructional assistances will work cooperatively in horizontal and vertical teams on a frequent basis to review assessment data and modify instruction to improve student achievement.
Effectively manage the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process and assist in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds.
Participate in facility and professional meetings, professional learning, and other trainings working through the Principal and Dean of Students and Instruction.
Contribute to an atmosphere of harmony and good will in the work place.

Monitor students during all transitions (arriving to school, leaving class for recess or lunch, returning from recess or lunch, and dismissal) by standing: in the doorway of your class, in the hall and/or in the stair well.
Monitor the class/students as they proceed up and down the stairs during transitions to reduce the number of accidents that occur.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. AA or BA degree, experience working with children in an organized setting.
