The Director of International Operations is responsible for overseeing global transportation activities, including both inbound and outbound logistics, for the Government Services Division. Their primary goal is to optimize freight management while minimizing risks and enhancing customer value. This role involves collaborating with various internal and external global stakeholders to set performance objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost and assist Vice President with rate filing, accruals, audits etc. Oversight of liftvan asset management. Develop and assist with a vision for capacity development and technology enhancements for capacity related challenges and improvements working in concert with domestic operations leader.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Yearly rate filing process for the current Military Household Goods tender program: Initiate rate requests with all transportation service providers to ensure accurate and profitable outcome for both the international and domestic military programs. Manage Third-Party Logistics and Carrier Relationships: Overseeing third-party logistics providers and carriers, managing their performance, negotiating contracts, and selecting suitable partners.Transportation Rate and Contract Management: Responsible for negotiating transportation rates and contracts across various modes, such as ocean, less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload, intermodal, parcel, and air freight.International Freight Import and Export: Managing international freight processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and policies, and tracking international costs, including tariffs and duties.Compliance and Risk Management: Identifying and implementing strategies to support compliance, reduce risk, and respond to customs inquiries.Cost Reduction and Service Enhancement: Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and service improvement through network optimization and continuous improvement efforts, either directly or indirectly through carrier and third-party logistics provider performance management.Operational Analytics and Capacity Optimization: Managing operational analytics and optimizing capacity for transportation operations.Employee Management: Developing and implementing guidelines for employee evaluations, recruitment, and promotion within the department.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with managers from the Customer Service and Operations teams to ensure seamless coordination across various functional areas.Key Performance Metrics: Tracking and meeting key performance metrics to assess and improve the performance of transportation operations.Job Skills Required:

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 7 years + related customer service/support center experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience as a manager with proven leadership ability preferred.TRAVEL:
