Responsibilities The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Operating Room supports the surgical team by delivering safe, efficient, and patient‑centered care in alignment with the scope of practice, policies, values, and mission of SCA Health. Accountabilities/Responsibilities + Provides direct patient care and technical support within the OR environment in accordance with established standards of practice and facility policies. + Adheres to all SCA Health non‑negotiable patient harm‑prevention policies, including infection control, equipment safety, and surgical site safety practices. + Assists in preparing the operating room for procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are available, clean, and functioning properly. + Supports the surgical team during procedures by maintaining a safe, organized environment and responding promptly to patient and team needs. + Monitors and manages the patient and perioperative environment to promote safety, optimize outcomes, and ensure efficient use of resources. + Performs approved patient care tasks within the PCT scope of practice, including positioning, transport, and other delegated duties consistent with facility policies. + Collaborates with nursing and surgical staff to maintain workflow, turnover efficiency, and high‑quality patient experiences. + Participates in ongoing training, competency validation, and performance check‑ins with the clinical supervisor to support professional growth and adherence to OR standards. Qualifications + Required/preferred educational requirements: HS diploma or GED + Must be enrolled in senior year of partner nursing school on track to graduate within the next 9-12 months; if the student withdraws or takes a leave of absence from the program, they will no longer be eligible to work in the facility as a Student Nurse Extern. + Must be in good standing with nursing school; the clinical liaison must approve the job offer prior to the hire offer + Successful completion of Basic Life Support certification + Demonstrate basic knowledge and clinical competence by completing the basic skills checklist as outlined in the nursing school USD $16.78/Hr. USD $18.51/Hr.
