Job SummaryThe Mesa Internship Program is a summer rotational program for students seeking experience in energy, mechanical, building, service, sustainability, sales, or project management. Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. has an opening for an Engineering Intern. This position will provide drafting and engineering support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group.
Interns will be responsible for providing drafting and engineering support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group. As assigned by management, the engineering intern's tasks may include, but are not limited to, job walks or site visits to gather information related to equipment or projects.
• The Engineering Intern will perform various tasks assigned by Mechanical Drafters, Mechanical Engineers, Senior Engineers, and the Engineering Manager/Director.
• Develop knowledge to draft and develop detailed schematics for Mechanical systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information.
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by soliciting technical information from Manufacturers/Vendors and the Internet.
• Develop knowledge to draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers.
• Develop knowledge to convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development. Learn and use AutoCAD to develop plans.
• Develop knowledge to participate in the company’s project improvement process by maintaining/improving CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards.
• Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope, and other tasks assigned.
• Currently attending college with a major in Mechanical Engineering and will be conferred within 2 years.
• Enrollment in formal AutoCAD/REVIT Drafting training/certification is recommended.
• Develop knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.
• Computer-savvy, willing and able to understand and learn new software programs. Developing proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Will support and develop knowledge of HVAC Systems and Components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly, manage time effectively, multitask, & prioritize.
