We are currently seeking a highly motivated Digital Banking Credit/Underwriting Intern to join our Digital Banking team. In this exciting role, you will support end‑to‑end small‑business credit decisions, help strengthen underwriting quality, and contribute to ongoing enhancements of our digital lending experience. You’ll collaborate with experts across Digital Banking, Credit Risk, and the Business Banking Loan Center (BBLC) to help ensure a smooth, tech‑enabled path for small‑business borrowers.
This opportunity is full-time and onsite in Midvale, UT.
Things you will do:
Support SBA 7(a) underwriting through borrower eligibility reviews, “credit elsewhere” assessments, and identification of key credit strengths and risks.Apply quantitative criteria such as SBSS scores, cash‑flow and coverage metrics, management/tenure thresholds, and SBA‑specific credit parameters.Draft credit memos and refine loan summaries outlining business models, guarantor information, collateral, repayment capacity, and credit rationale.Work inside digital workflows (including Credit LEAD) to track needs lists, monitor application progress, and assist with approval‑to‑closing transitions.Assist with data validation and portfolio insights, helping identify trends that improve throughput, approval rates, and SBA program performance.Collaborate cross‑functionally with underwriting, product, operations, and analytics teams to support a consistent and efficient digital borrower journey.Contribute to innovation efforts aimed at improving automation, policy alignment, and digital underwriting tools.
Qualifications
Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related fieldFoundational knowledge of financial statements, cash‑flow analysis, and credit fundamentalsStrong analytical mindset; proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups)Clear, concise business writing and the ability to collaborate in a fast‑paced environment.
