Join Roche, where every voice matters. **The Position** The **AI/ML Data Science team in Digital Endpoints and Patient Centered Solutions (DEPCS)** develops advanced multimodal AI/ML applications (Imaging, Sensors, Clinical Data) using complex datasets and external technologies. The team utilizes advanced analytics to generate insights from large-scale data, with the goal of accelerating R&D and improving patient outcomes. The group creates innovative tools for faster, more accurate disease detection, characterization, and monitoring across various therapeutic areas using imaging, sensor, clinical data and multimodal approaches . Their aim is to enhance the drug development process by automating reviews, developing robust endpoints, improving diagnostic tools, creating automated assessments for real-world data, and assisting clinicians in selecting optimal therapies. The team is offering four AI/ML Data Science internship positions in different areas: clinical imaging, sensor data, and multimodal. In this position, you will: + Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of machine learning/computer vision algorithms applied to medical imaging or multimodal data, including developing prediction models for disease evolution. + Focus on applied algorithm development: Benchmark and adapt state-of-the-art methods to internal datasets, ensuring rigorous validation against clinical baselines. + Develop pipelines for robust image segmentation and/or time series classification, prioritizing clinical utility. + Engage in data-centric AI tasks: improving model performance through systematic data curation. + Streamline experimental workflows by automating data processing steps and ensuring reproducibility of results. + Proactively share learnings and quantitative results with both technical and non-technical audiences. **Who You Are** You must be currently enrolled in a university in Master's or PhD studies, or have graduated with a Master’s degree within 12 months before the start of the internship in an applied quantitative discipline such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Bioengineering, Statistics, or Mathematics. Furthermore, you have… + Strong programming skills in Python and Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch), including experience with reproducible research practices and version control (Git). + Experience with medical imaging data format, image, video processing and/or with time-series data, sensor data, signal processing. + Understanding of end-to-end ML/AI project management (data engineering, model training/evaluation) and familiarity with cloud/scientific computing environments (AWS, HPC). + Excellent communication and collaboration skills. + Creative problem solving abilities: you are a quick learner who is comfortable experimenting with new approaches, with a passion for understanding the data behind the model and the clinical context. + Interest in Multimodal Learning (fusion of image + tabular/sensor data) or Agentic Systems (LLM-driven workflows). **Additional Information** + This is a 6-month-long internship with a start date of 1 May 2026. The internship is located in Basel, Switzerland. + Please state in your CV the date you graduated from university (if available). + PhD students must be enrolled for the entire duration of the internship. + Please note that, due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an industry internship is mandatory as part of the university training.
