About the Role:

The Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support strategic initiatives that advance Biogen’s global EHS programs and sustainability goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to enterprise-level EHS systems, global compliance frameworks, and programs that shape Biogen’s proactive safety culture across all regions and functions. You will work directly with global EHS leaders on projects that strengthen governance, enable data-driven decision-making, and support continuous improvement across our worldwide operations. This internship is ideal for students interested in EHS, sustainability, environmental science, life sciences, public health, or related fields.

What You’ll Do:

The EHS Intern will assist with implementation, improvement, and monitoring of global EHS programs and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities may include:

Risk Management & GovernanceSupport global risk assessments and harmonization of standards across regions.Assist in updating global EHS standards, procedures, and guidance documents.Contribute to initiatives related to ISO certification and global compliance alignment.Occupational HygieneAssist in the development and management of Biogen asset SDS.Support the development of occupational exposure bands/occupational exposure limits for Biogen assets.Assist with development of processes and procedures to manage occupational exposures.Occupational Safety  Assist in the updating of global standards, procedures, and support documents.Participate in global safety culture programs and recognition initiatives.Significant Injury and Fatality Prevention ProgramSupport the development and maintenance of Biogen’s SIF prevention program.Assist in the development of program documents and training materials.Data, Analytics & SystemsAssist with data entry and analysis in enterprise systems (myEHS, Veeva, 3E).Contribute to trend analysis and root cause investigations for global incidents and observations.General SupportJoin global EHS meetings, workshops, and governance forums.Provide operational and administrative support for strategic projects.Other duties as assigned based on global priorities and intern strengths.

Who You Are:

Required

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Solid communication skills and comfort working with diverse, global teams.Interest in global EHS programs and continuous improvement.

Preferred

Familiarity with international EHS standards (ISO 14001/45001), OSHA, EPA, or similar frameworks.Experience with data tools (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, dashboards).Creative skills for developing communications and training materials a plus.

To participate in the Biogen Internship or Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Legal authorization to work in the U.S.At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university or skills program/apprenticeship.

Education Requirements

Current enrollment in a degree program in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Sustainability, or a related field.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $23.00-$27.00


The actual hourly wage offered will consider the candidate’s current academic level and degree candidacy, inclusive of Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, JD, MD, PhD and MBA programs. It will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements specific to the job location.
