The Continuous Improvement Intern will support the St‑Laurent cutting plant in implementing Saputo’s operational excellence system by participating in data analysis, process mapping, and improvement initiatives. They will work under the supervision of the Continuous Improvement team and the plant management to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and sustainability, while learning to apply Lean and continuous improvement principles on the shop floor. The intern will contribute to short‑term improvement projects and help standardize processes across various functions.

The Internship will begin on May 11th and end August 14th, 2026.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER... 

Assist in planning and implementing targeted improvement initiatives that can be successfully completed during the internship. This includes data collection, performance gap analysis, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to achieve measurable results.Collaborate with various departments to document and improve standardized operating procedures (SOPs).Participate in hands‑on activities on the production floor to observe operations, collect data, and identify opportunities to reduce losses and improve First‑Time‑Right (FTR) performance.

YOU ARE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU...

You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field (second‑ or third‑year bachelor’s students or first‑year master’s students);You have previous internship experience in a related field (an asset);You are able to make data‑driven decisions and act as a positive change agent;You have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;As part of the role, the incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate in English, both spoken and written, with colleagues and other stakeholders in Québec and across Canada;You have the ability to build and maintain relationships and collaborate effectively with team members and various stakeholders;You demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and can manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision;You possess strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) and manufacturing performance systems (e.g., OEE) is an asset;You have knowledge or experience in Lean, Six Sigma (e.g., Yellow/Green Belt certification), 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Root Cause Analysis (DMAIC, Fishbone, 5 Whys) (an asset).
