Job Summary
The Intermodal Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating container movements between marine terminals, rail yards, and customer locations. This role ensures timely pickups and returns by managing terminal appointment systems, verifying steamship line requirements, and maintaining accurate schedules for drivers and equipment. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, appointment‑driven environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Schedule and manage appointment times for container pickups and returns at marine and rail terminals using appointment‑based systems
Make and confirm pickup appointments for import and export containers
Verify correct container return locations for each steamship line and ensure compliance with terminal requirements
Coordinate terminal cut‑off times and appointment availability to maximize efficiency and minimize delays
Communicate appointment details and changes to drivers, carriers, and internal teams
Monitor terminal access, gate hours, and congestion to proactively adjust schedules
Ensure accurate documentation and data entry related to appointments and container movements
Resolve appointment issues, missed gates, or terminal changes as they arise
Maintain organized records of appointments, returns, and terminal interactions

Skills and Requirements
-Minimum 5 years dispatching- dealing with brokers, clients, drivers, etc. - MUST be the person that is working directly with the drivers. Someone who is support staff will not work
-PORT Experience is a MUST
-Computer literacy, emailing, typing, outlook
-TMS System experience -Trinium experience
-Bilingual is a plus
-Hazmat experience
